A lime powder balling machine is a device used to compress powdered materials into spherical shapes. Primarily designed for use in the dry-powder-to-briquette process within the Pidgeon method of producing lime powder, this equipment plays a crucial role in optimizing production capacity.
The specific process for the lime powder balling machine is as follows:
After being removed from the kiln, the lime is screened; the fine powder smaller than 3mm is fed into a high-pressure lime powder balling machine to form pellets measuring 35mm × 25mm × 15mm (length × width × thickness). These pellets can also be customized according to the buyer’s specific requirements. The resulting pellets achieve a bulk density of 1.9–2.2 g/cm³ and exhibit drop strength comparable to that of lump lime. Finally, the qualified pellets are screened again before being transferred to the finished-product storage bin for use in smelting operations.
Machine maintenance and upkeep are an extremely important, ongoing task that must be closely coordinated with daily operations and regular inspections. Dedicated personnel should be assigned to conduct routine check-ups.
Maintenance of the lime powder ball press machine:
1. The bearing supports the entire load of the machine, so proper lubrication is critical to extending its lifespan—it directly affects both the machine’s service life and operational efficiency. Therefore, the lubricating oil used must be clean, and the sealing system must remain intact. The main lubrication points for this machine are: (1) rotating bearings, (2) roll bearings, (3) all gears, and (4) movable bearings and sliding surfaces.
2. Newly installed wheel tires are prone to loosening and must be checked regularly.
3. Ensure that all parts of the machine are functioning properly.
4. Pay attention to checking the wear level of easily worn parts and promptly replace any components that show signs of wear.
5. The baseplate where the moving mechanism is installed should be kept free of dust and other debris to prevent the movable bearings from jamming on the baseplate if the machine encounters uncrushable material, which could lead to a serious accident.
6. If the bearing oil temperature rises, stop the machine immediately to inspect the cause and address the issue.
7. If there is an impact sound during operation of the rotating gear, stop the machine immediately for inspection and eliminate the cause of the malfunction.
Installation and Test Run:
1. The equipment should be installed on a level concrete foundation and secured with anchor bolts.
2. During installation, ensure the main unit is properly aligned vertically with the horizontal plane.
3. After installation, check all bolts for looseness and ensure the main unit compartment door is securely fastened. If any are loose, tighten them immediately.
4. Connect the power cable and control switch according to the device's power requirements.
5. After inspection is complete, proceed with no-load test running. Production can begin once the test run confirms normal operation.
