How is the output of a pellet press calculated, and what factors does it depend on? Actually, calculating the pellet press output is quite straightforward. First, you need to know the density of the material being processed. From there, you can easily determine the weight of each pellet—since the size of the pellets is already known. Additionally, the diameter and width of the press rollers are fixed parameters we already have. With this information, it becomes clear how many pellets the machine can produce in one full rotation. The only remaining calculation is figuring out how many times the press can rotate per minute. This depends entirely on the specific gearbox and motor you’ve chosen. Once you’ve selected the appropriate gearbox model and motor type, you’ll know both the motor’s rotational speed and the gearbox’s gear ratio. To calculate the exact RPM, simply multiply the motor’s rotational speed by the diameter of the motor’s drive pulley, then divide that result by the gearbox’s gear ratio. Finally, take that number and divide it again by the diameter of the gearbox’s driven pulley. The final figure you arrive at will be the pellet press’s rotational speed in revolutions per minute.
