Ferroalloy
Ferroalloys (English: Ferroalloys) broadly refer to products added to molten iron during steelmaking—such as deoxidizers or elemental additives—to impart specific properties or meet particular requirements in the steel. These are intermediate alloys composed of iron combined with one or more other elements, primarily used in steel production. In the steel industry, all intermediate alloys employed in steelmaking, regardless of whether they contain iron or not (e.g., silicon-calcium alloy), are commonly referred to as "ferroalloys." Traditionally, certain pure metal additives and oxide-based additives are also included under this category.
Uses of ferroalloys
Used as a deoxidizer, it removes oxygen from molten steel during the steelmaking process. Certain ferroalloys can also eliminate other impurities in steel, such as sulfur and nitrogen.
Used as an alloying agent. Depending on the steel grade's compositional requirements, alloying elements are added to the steel to enhance its performance.
Used as a grain-refining inoculant. Added to the molten iron before casting, it helps improve the microstructure of the castings.
Used as a reducing agent. It serves as a reductant in the metallothermic reduction process for producing other ferroalloys and non-ferrous metals, as well as an alloying additive for non-ferrous alloys. It is also used in small quantities in the chemical industry and other industrial sectors.

Introduction to Ferroalloy Pelletizing Machines
The ferroalloy pelletizing machine is a pressurized ball-forming device specifically designed based on the characteristics of ferroalloy powders. This machine can not only compress ferroalloy powder but also shape powdered materials like iron concentrate and mineral fines into spherical pellets. Its primary purposes include minimizing dust pollution, enabling material recovery and reuse, enhancing transportation efficiency, and even supporting applications in metallurgical shaping and iron concentrate pelletizing.
Requirements for Forming Materials in Ferroalloy Pelletizing Machines
1. The material particle size fed into the ferroalloy ball press machine for compaction is typically around 80–200 mesh.
2. No metal objects are allowed in the material, as they could damage the roller surface.
3. The material supply must be adequate; it’s recommended to use a variable-speed screw feeder and adjust the feed rate of fresh material by monitoring the return material flow.

Working Principle of the Ferroalloy Pellet Machine
The pre-compressed material is forcibly fed into the center between the counter-rotating rollers via the ball-forming nozzle. As the rollers rotate at equal speeds but in opposite directions, they compress the material, causing the unit forming pressure within the material to gradually increase—reaching its peak at the central line connecting the two rollers. Once the material passes this critical point, the unit forming pressure begins to decrease, eventually leading the material into a state where it detaches from the rollers and completes the ball-forming process.
If the speeds of the main machine and the pre-compression roller are adjusted properly, the machine can produce a single, fully formed product. When returning the material that has passed through the screen for re-mixing with fresh material before another pressing cycle, it’s advisable to reduce the rotational speed of the pre-compression screw if the proportion of returned material exceeds 50%. Otherwise, the motor may easily become overloaded.
